Shivon Zilis has revealed that her relationship with Elon Musk suddenly came to an end, saying the breakup happened with “no warning” after years together and four children.
Zilis, a tech executive who shares four children with Musk, announced the split in a lengthy post on X on Oct. 2. She said it was difficult to go from being in love to being let go within a week, describing the end of the relationship as something she had not expected.
The timing was especially striking because Zilis also shared a screenshot of a recent text exchange between the two. In messages dated Sept. 24, she told Musk that it was wonderful to see him for breakfast and wrote, “Love you very much.” Musk responded, “Love you too.” He also discussed an upcoming dinner and said he had not realized he could bring a companion.
Zilis and Musk are parents to twins Strider and Azure, daughter Arcadia and their youngest son Seldon. In her statement, Zilis said there was “a lot of loss,” but she was deeply grateful for the four children they had together, calling them the loves of her life. She also said she hoped she and Musk could remain good friends and co-parents.
Musk has not publicly responded to Zilis’ announcement, Zilis ended her message by saying she was hurting but still cared deeply about Musk and would continue cheering for his happiness.
