The note set an initial deadline for a $4 million payment by February 5, with a growing threat to increase the demand to $6 million if it wasn't met by February 9. As of the latest deadline, there has been no proof that this sum of money was paid.
Savannah Guthrie and her siblings were seen making a very emotional and public plea for help and expressed the willingness to meet the kidnappers' demands if it would give rise to their mother's safe return.
