After getting the honor of the Lifetime Achievement Award at the ceremony that was held in LA, she tried to exit the stage before completing her next duty.
Host Trevor Noah had to run and call her back to present the award for the Record of the Year category, and that's when things started to get more awkward.
Instead of simply reading outloud the name of the winner, the star struggled for a moment with the teleprompter that was positioned right in front of her.
She opened the card and enthusiastically shared that Luther Vandross was the winner, which was a name that was not even nominated and belonged to a star who died in 2005.
The confusion appeared to stem from the fact that the actual winning song was titled Luther by Kendrick Lamar and SZA, which samples a classic by Vandross. Cher thankfully soon realized the mix-up and corrected herself, naming Kendrick Lamar and SZA as the winners.
