Winter Storm Fern is currently battering a large portion of the US, bringing in massive snow and sleet, freezing rain, and dangerously cold temperatures from the southern Plains to the Northeast.
The huge storm has given rise to absolute chaos in the country, with President Trump declaring a state of emergency in the country. So far, the weather has forced more than 11,000 flight cancellations as airports in major cities like New York, Washington, Atlanta, and Charlotte keep struggling with the disastrous conditions.
Many carriers, including the likes of American Airlines, Delta, United, Southwest, and JetBlue, have seen a major part of their schedules grounded until further notice.
On the other hand, leading airport hubs are experiencing a major shutdown, causing havoc for travelers trying to enter and exit the nation.
Airlines have similarly rolled out travel waivers and urged passengers that prolonged delays and uncertainty can be anticipated.
The winter blast also impacted the country's power infrastructure, leaving up to 1 million citizens in the US without electricity, especially in states in the South and Midwest regions.
