More than 100 tourists in Lanzhou, China, were left stranded in freezing temperatures for nearly three hours after a huge ski lift ended up getting malfunctioned.
The incident arose on a Saturday afternoon when the lift suddenly stopped working at about 4 pm. This left so many groups of skiers and holidaymakers dangling high above the snow-covered slopes with no way to come down.

Many of those who were trapped were said to be foreign visitors who were enjoying winter activities when this breakdown took place.
As per eyewitness accounts, temperatures had dropped sharply as the minutes went by, and several of those stranded tourists felt themselves getting numb due to the cold.

There was at least one person who later described that feeling of being frozen stiff during this ordeal. Resort staff initially attempted to investigate the cause, reporting that a short power outage preceded this issue.
While the electricity did get restored after nearly 20 minutes, a mechanical failure inside the lift's gearbox stopped the system from restarting, leaving 104 individuals suspended in the air.
