President Donald Trump is not making a lot of people happy, and that's because he appeared to distance himself from a proposal that he himself made to America a few months back.
This had to do with sending out $2000 checks that were funded by tariff revenue. During a recent interview, Trump was questioned about when people could expect payments that were said to arrive sometime this year.

This prompted a surprise reply in which he questioned if he had ever made such a promise. And his reaction suggested some uncertainty or reluctance on the matter.
This was once framed as a tariff dividend for American households, and he vowed to give them out to those who were eligible.

This moment has since then drawn a lot of attention as Trump had earlier spoken madly regarding revenue from tariffs that could benefit citizens directly.
This is especially those coming from middle and lower income groups. It was a concept that was presented in a manner to return funds collected from imports back to American taxpayers.
