5-Year-Old Boy Dies After Falling and Getting Arm Trapped in Ski Resort Escalator

A 5-year-old child has passed away in a terrifying ski accident in Japan

On Sunday, a customer was fatally injured after getting caught in an outdoor escalator while visiting the Asari Ski Resort in Otaru, Hokkaido.

The victim was identified as 5-year-old Hinata Goto, as per the Japanese newspaper The Asahi Shimbun.

A serious incident arose on the escalator that happened to be linking the parking lot and the center house at about 10:12 am on December 28, in which the customer was caught in the escalator and passed away.

Hinata was said to be riding on the belt conveyor escalator with his mother and had tried to get off the 30-meter walkway when he fell on the outdoor escalator and got his arm caught in the winding machine, present at the top.

At about 10 am, Hinata's mom called emergency services regarding her son being caught in the escalator. Hinata was soon freed from this escalator, around 40 minutes later, but fell unconscious according to local media outlets. He was soon pronounced dead at the hospital.
