Miss Canada's Jaime VandenBerg is breaking her silence on why she hid her pregnancy onstage while competing for the grand Miss Universe pageant.
When she represented Canada at the Miss Universe pageant in Bangkok last November, few people knew that she was pregnant. Moreover, a few months later, the reigning Miss Universe Canada shared more about how she had been four months along while competing, sharing the news through a post on Instagram.
This combined her footage from the pageant with a glimpse of her growing baby bump. While the pageant did expand its rules for eligibility in 2023 to include mothers and married women, she shared how she deliberately chose to hide the news while taking part.
The reason was that she wished to keep it personal and intimate, as she had not told anyone in the family, as it was during an era of her life where everything was in the public eye.
