The captain and crew member of the tragic ferry MV Barima, which was recently involved in a capsizing disaster, have now been arrested.
The incident arose after he tested positive for marijuana following a catastrophic capsizing event, with fears that more than 100 people have drowned.
The Guyanese ferry underwent the tragedy off the coast of Guyana. Moreover, the maritime disaster was believed to have taken place late Saturday night while the vessel was believed to be moving from the capital city of Georgetown to the northwest village of Port Kaituma.
At least 27 bodies were said to be recovered while up to 83 people remain missing and are feared to have drowned inside the Atlantic waters. A total of 67 survivors, including 15 kids, were rescued so far.
Witnesses shared more about how the 40-meter-long vessel built in 1939 tilted and rapidly filled with water after being struck by a huge wave.
