Pentagon identifies third US soldier killed in weekend attack by Iran

The Pentagon was seen identifying the third US service member killed during the weekend's hostilities as 30-year-old Sgt. Michael Emmanuel Swinton of Fayetteville, North Carolina.

Swinton was reportedly killed in action on Sunday during a controlled detonation of a downed Iranian one-way unmanned aerial system. This incident arose at Erbil Air Base in northern Iraq and remains under military investigation.

He was assigned to D Battery, 2nd Battalion, 55th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 108th Air Defense Artillery Brigade, stationed out of Fort Bragg in North Carolina.

This was the third US Service Member to die recently, as the Pentagon previously identified two other soldiers who were killed during an Iranian ballistic missile and drone strike that targeted Jordan's Salti Air Base.
