So many viewers felt this cinematic address resembled an unnecessary 'Ted Talk' or a Hollywood audition instead of a classic sports pre-match rally.
Standing on a small podium in the center of the pitch, the 64-year-old star boomed a very emotional address that came back with a dramatic and cinematic soundtrack.
He began with some opening lines which included: 'More than 30 days back, 48 countries started a journey. They crossed oceans, they crossed borders, and they crossed cultures. And together they showed us why this game belonged to the world!'
Gesturing towards the crowd, he lowered his sunglasses and went on to conclude that as the world gathers for one final chapter, 'let us celebrate a tournament that brings the world together!' Many felt the TED Talk was unnecessary and really made others fall asleep.
