Sam Neill's official cause of death has finally been revealed.
The news comes as the family prepares and plans for his private memorial at his farm in New Zealand.
The star passed away at the age of 78. His rep has confirmed that the cause of death was pneumonia.
His family did confirm at the time of death that he was cancer-free after first being diagnosed in the year 2022. But his former partner did share how his vigorous treatment for cancer reduced his immunity and made him more susceptible to infections.
Despite his health battles, he remained remarkably active, filming four consecutive projects over the past year while carrying on to run his New Zealand winery, Two Paddocks. His death in Australia was described by his family as sudden and unexpected, and now they plan to hold a memorial service at his farm with only close family and friends in attendance.
