Sam Neill's former lover is detailing the late star's final days before his sudden and tragic death.
The Jurassic Park star passed away on Monday, as confirmed by his loved ones, calling the matter unexpected and devastating. While no cause of death was revealed at the time, they did share how it happened due to natural causes and that he was surrounded by loved ones at the time.
His family was seen taking comfort in the fact that he died cancer-free. But his former partner and Australian journalist Laura Tingle did share on Sydney Mornings that Neill was fighting different forms of cancer intensively for the past five years.
While his treatments included chemotherapy and immunotherapy, his doctors successfully cleared him of blood cancer. But the treatments did leave his immunity severely compromised. Weeks before his death, he was said to have suffered a serious lung infection and couldn't recover from it. Therefore, pneumonia was said to have played a part in his passing.
