This has reportedly reignited a fierce 15-year-old rivalry between her supporters and the Lady Gaga fan community.
On July 11, a Lady Gaga fan shared a close-up of the 67-year-old star's hands from her latest Confessions II promotional campaign. This highlighted the visible signs of aging compared to her smooth face. The post swiftly amassed more than 5.5 million views in no time.
Madonna supporters condemned the post as ageist and argued that physical ageing is entirely natural and celebs aren't immune to it. They also shared how celebrity status does not justify public ridicule.
On the other hand, the Gaga fan defended the post as retaliation for years of online hostility towards Gaga by Madonna's fanbase.
The clash traces back to the year 2011 when Lady Gaga's famous music hit called Born This Way, was heavily compared to Madonna's Express Yourself. This was a comparison Madonna later famously called reductive.
