Internationally acclaimed New Zealand star Sam Neill's cause of death has been revealed.
The 78-year-old star died following a battle with pneumonia. His family confirmed the news about his sudden and unexpected death on Monday, July 13, 2026. They did not reveal the cause of death yesterday, but only mentioned that he died peacefully and surrounded by loved ones.
Neill was declared cancer-free after undergoing extensive chemotherapy and immunotherapy for stage three angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma, which was diagnosed in 2022. But the treatments reportedly left his immune system seriously compromised. His former partner, journalist Laura Tingle, did share how his poor old body just sort of got a bit too exhausted. In his final weeks before his death, he was having trouble and difficulty recovering from the lung infection.
