Former NFL running back champion Chris Johnson has shared a very personal health diagnosis with his fans.
Johnson went public with his ALS diagnosis while making an appearance on Good Morning America yesterday. This is where the 40-year-old ex-player of the Tennessee Titans shared how he received the diagnosis in 2025 when he was just 39. This is right after he noticed some major issues with his grip and right hand in general.
The star reportedly suffers from ALS, which is the most common type of progressive neurodegenerative disease that occurs in those with no family history. He further outlined how the condition has spread rapidly over the past year. As a result, it has seriously impacted his physical capability and led to the loss of his natural voice as well.
Now, he's relying on a speech-generating device that tracks his eye movements. It makes use of a bank that features its own voice for communication. But despite the major diagnosis and change in his life, he shared how he's more determined than ever to fight and even thanked his wife for giving him the greatest support and strength during this time.
