Diners can finally feel a sense of relief after leading restaurants, Texas Roadhouse and Olive Garden, will now have to abide by a new rule.
This includes a deadline of July 1, 2026, for both restaurants to overhaul their physical and digital menus. Therefore, diners can expect to see a shift that arrives in response to stricter and new consumer protection regulations that are designed to get rid of any kind of junk fees or hidden surcharges that arrive at the end of their meal.

Under the latest Strict Disclosure bill, all public food service establishments need to itemize all mandatory added costs before any client can order. This latest rule targets automatic fees, which diners tend to overlook until the actual final bill arrives. Service charges and automatic gratuities, credit card surcharges, and even delivery with split plate fees are a part of this.

Eateries don't have much time left to update their menus, promotional signage, websites, and digital ordering apps before the deadline approaches.
