The daytime television community is in a state of mourning after the tragic loss of former All My Children star Paul Avery and his wife, Sheila, who reportedly passed away on Tuesday morning following a tragic fire inside their home.

Emergency responders were seen arriving before 1 am to find the home completely engulfed in flames. Firefighters managed to pull the pair from the burning structure, but despite receiving swift CPR and life-saving efforts, both succumbed to their injuries shortly after getting rescued. The real cause of this fire remains under investigation.

81-year-old Avery was best known to the world of soap opera for his 12-year-long role as Hughie. The famous bartender at Foxy's on All My Children had thousands of fans who were in shock after hearing the news. Other than daytime TV, his multifaceted life included serving as a Vietnam War helicopter crew chief, skydiving, and voicing the yellow M&M in commercial spots. The pair is survived by three kids, including Paul, Parker, and Kylie.
