Siren's Curse, which is the latest and record-breaking roller coaster at Six Flags Cedar Point, left visitors terrified by stalling twice in a single weekend, leaving riders hanging vertically 160 feet in the air.
The separate incidents arose on Saturday and Sunday, temporarily suspending passengers facing first towards the ground at a 90-degree angle. On both days, the attraction suffered a sudden technical stoppage right at its signature tilt feature, where the track cuts off and drops down into a vertical plunge.
Passengers remained locked securely in their seats facing straight down while crews worked on this issue. A park spokesperson clarified to the press how the coaster experienced technical delays that were comparable to a vehicle's check engine light.
The park's automated safety system performed as designed by stopping the ride for an inspection. Following completion of the mechanical checks, the ride restarted, and guests safely finished their runs. The coaster was reopened shortly after each check, as confirmed by local media outlets.
