A father and son were seen sharing a milestone in the operating room.
Dr. Joseph Wasselle Sr. and Dr. Joseph Wasselle Jr. were both taking part in a vascular surgery together as they both belong to the same specialization at the Orlando Health Melbourne Hospital in Florida.
Sources shared how it was a great milestone and achievement for the dad to have the honor of having his son be the other surgeon in the same room as him, as this is the first time that they managed to do this since his son joined the hospital staff.
During that procedure, the doctor was seen taking part in an endovascular aneurysm repair when his father stopped by to observe. His dad ultimately scrubbed in to assist and learn more about the innovative technique that his son was using firsthand.
The hospital says they are the first facility within the Orlando Health system to perform this EVAR procedure inside a cardiac catheterization lab instead of a classic operating room.
