Cynthia Erivo Says After the Wicked: For Good Singapore Attack, It Was ‘Like My Humanity Had Been Bastardized’

Cynthia Erivo was seen opening up about why she decided to pull back from campaigning for an Oscar for Wicked: For Good.

The Tony Award-winning star from the UK and singer shared how her decision was impacted by the harsh aftermath that arose during her visit to Singapore, where she was attacked, alongside co-star Ariana Grande.

This was when their was on a stop in the country to promote their latest movie as part of a press tour for the sequel.

When asked if her defending Grande from a man who vaulted over a barrier during a red carpet appearance at Universal Studios Singapore had anything to do with her decision to scale back, she added that maybe that did actually.

At the time, she was walking a decorative yellow brick road with her co-stars of the movie when a man charged towards Grande in a dangerous manner. This forced Erivo to spring into action as security guards also intervened.
