The idea dubbed STEYE was curated to use embedded antibodies that react with pathogens, potentially signaling different infections through certain color changes.
This concept gained plenty of attention after winning an innovation award at the TeenTech Awards, highlighting the creative approach to bettering sexual health awareness.
However, this product had not been developed into a commercially available or medically approved device, as detecting STDs in real time presents a major scientific and regulatory challenge.
Experts did note that while innovative ideas such as this do raise awareness, reliable STD testing still needs lab diagnostics and professional medical evaluation.
