Twist in case of 19-year-old Long Beach girl crushed to death by distracted driver in front of mom

A twist in the case of a 19-year-old Long Beach girl being crushed to death by a distracted driver has now been revealed.

The driver is now facing criminal charges months after authorities revealed how his distracted driving resulted in the death of a teenage woman as she walked through a strip mall parking lot with her mother by her side.

40-year-old Desean Edwards was charged this week with felony vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence in the November 2, 2025, death of Grace Edwards. She had died in the horrifying car crash that unfolded in front of the teen's mother, as per authorities and court records.

Sources revealed how tragically Grace happened to be walking through the parking lot near Bellflower Boulevard and Stearns Street when cops claim Edwards struck her with his Lexus Sedan while backing out of a parking spot. Investigators strongly believed that the driver was distracted and that is what led to the tragedy.
