A major new update has arisen in Spain's House of Horrors case after the parents accused of isolating their young kids for years inside a dirty home finally learned their fate.
Christian Steffen and Melissa Ann Steffen were both found guilty of serious charges after authorities uncovered the shocking conditions in which their three kids had allegedly been living for more than three and a half years.
The pair reportedly kept their now 9-year-old twins and 11-year-old child locked inside the residence in Oviedo, sparking a major international outrage when the disturbing details first came to light.
Sources shared how they were tortured in the chambers. They were only rescued after receiving a tip from the neighbors who shared more about the bizarre encounters with the parents. The kids were not seen at school anymore, or never came out to play. And that is what alerted the authorities. From animal excrement to piles of trash everywhere, the house was unbearable for authorities to search through. The kids were believed to have slept in caged cribs.
The parents were soon arrested and held in pre-trial detention without bail. More than a year later, they were found guilty of domestic violence and child abandonment. They were each sentenced to 2 years and 10 months in prison.
