American tourist plunges to her death from 29th floor of Hong Kong hotel

An American tourist has passed away after plunging from the 29th floor of a Hong Kong boutique hotel on Monday, and seven people on the ground were also reported to be injured.

The woman, identified as a 69-year-old, fell to her death just after 9 am, after going to the pool deck of the Hotel Indigo Hong Kong Island, which is present in the busy commercial district of Wan Chai, as confirmed by local media outlets.

The tourist battled depression and stopped taking her meds in March, a police source mentioned to the outlet. Her husband had left the hotel for a doctor's appointment just one hour before this tragedy ensued.

A resident was also seriously injured by the falling tourist and rushed to a nearby hospital. Sources claim she's now in the ICU.

The impact of the fall caused the glass panels at the hotel's entrance to shatter, causing injuries to six more people. Investigations are now taking place to determine how and why she fell.
