A moment of confrontation in Washington's Olympic National Forest escalated into a major fight, with a father speaking about how he was held down by his throat in a creek. This is when gunfire erupted, and it hit his own son, 2, in the head as his family drove away.
The shooting unfolded at about 3:30 am on May 3, when the man reported to 911 to report that his vehicle was shot and his child was struck by a bullet as he drove towards a hospital with his partner, as per the Sheriff's Office.
Deputies met the family at the Mason General Hospital and determined the shooting had taken place near Forest Service Road 23 and Spider Lake, nearly 30 miles northwest of Shelton, as per the authorities.
He was later airlifted to Harborview Medical Center for further treatment. A UW Medicine Spokesperson shared how the child was admitted to the ICU in critical condition.
