Three people aboard a cruise ship in the Atlantic Ocean have passed away from suspected infections of hantavirus, which is a rare flu-like virus related to rodent droppings.

The World Health Organization shared on Sunday that one person aboard the MV Hondius Cruise Ship was confirmed to have contracted the infection, and five more were suspected to have contracted it.

Three of the six people infected have passed away, and one person is in intensive care in South Africa, as confirmed by the World Health Organization.
A spokesperson from the National Department of Health in South Africa shared more on this front about how patients were suffering from serious health complications arising from undiagnosed severe acute respiratory infection.
