At least 14 killed & 84 injured as two trains crash into each other on same track leaving passengers ‘screaming’

Tragic reports are speaking about a train crash that took place in the Indonesian capital city of Jakarta yesterday, where 14 people tragically lost their lives.

Rescuers were seen removing victims from a damaged commuter train car on Tuesday, confirming the crash. The incident took place on Monday when a long-distance train crashed into the rear car of the stopped commuter train at the Bekasi Timur station outside Jakarta.

The car was designated as a women-only car, which is a common accommodation to prevent harassment.

A total of 84 people sustained injuries and were rushed to the hospital for treatment. The remains of the victims were taken to a hospital for further identification. Rescue teams completed the evacuation of all victims from inside the wreckage about midmorning.

An investigation into the crash is currently underway, as confirmed by the police chief.
