A Michigan bride and groom have entered pleas in a shocking case involving the death of a groomsman who was killed in a crash on their wedding day.
24-year-old James Shirah pleaded no contest to a reduced charge of second-degree murder as well as operating while license is suspended, revoked, or denied, and failed to stop at the scene of an accident that resulted in death.
He was initially charged with open murder, as revealed by the court documents. Prosecutors mentioned how Shirah deliberately hit his 29-year-old groomsmen, named Terry Taylor Jr., with his SUV after a major argument arose.
This was just hours after he and his bride exchanged vows on August 30, 2024.
Shirah's bride, 23 year old Savanah Collier, was also charged after authorities claimed she didn't cooperate in this investigation.
She has since then pleaded guilty to one count of accessory after the fact. The County prosecutor spoke regarding the case, mentioning how they feel that, based on the evidence, this is a proper resolution.
