Passengers trapped under train after derailment with more than 400 people aboard

Tragic reports are speaking about passengers being trapped beneath a train after it derailed, with emergency services rushing to the scene.

Seven cars of a Moscow based passenger train on Friday derailed in Russia's Ulyanovsk region as per local media outlets.

The incident took place at about 6:26 am Moscow time near Bryandino station. Nearly 415 passengers were on board, and people were said to have been stuck underneath the train, with some suffering from serious injuries.

24 passengers, including four kids, were rushed to nearby hospitals following this derailment. As per initial reports, all of the injured are in moderate or mild condition, as confirmed by the country's assistant health minister.

One person was also trapped in the toilet and was seen calling for help. Emergency services are now at the scene, with some passengers helping one another get out of the vehicles. Men were similarly seen pulling people out through their windows.
