Taylor Swift is getting sued for trademark infringement, false designation, and also some unfair competition regarding the title of her last album, called The Life of a Showgirl.
The legal proceedings were filed at a California federal court by a former Las Vegas showgirl who owns the trademark to Confessions of a Showgirl. Now, she's seeking unspecified damages from Swift and UMG Recordings and a court order that would bar the pop star from continuing to use this album title.
In a statement shared with local media outlets, her lawyer mentioned more about how a solo performer worked 12 long and hard years to build a brand that should not have to disappear because someone bigger came along.
Wade also sang on the hit show America's Got Talent in the year 2014, which is the same year that she began writing a column that featured her reflections on her experiences as a showgirl in Vegas. Since then, she's worked hard to grow her brand into a giant podcast.
