A massive explosion was seen rocking the tourist hotspot city of Rome, as several people were reported injured.
According to reports from local media outlets, two buildings in the Piana del Sole region ended up collapsing after the explosion took place at about 1 pm local time on Sunday, as per the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera.

The explosion was most likely caused by a liquefied petroleum gas cylinder. Currently, the investigation is still said to be ongoing as two elderly individuals, aged 84 and 86, were injured in the incident, as per a witness.
The woman was found underneath the bathtub, while the man was located near the rubble. The duo was transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Telegrafi shared how the explosion ended up damaging residences that were found nearby, and about 70 people were evacuated from this same area. Furthermore, two more were said to be seriously injured, while others were said to be still trapped under the rubble.
