Oscars 2026 BLASTED for Snubbing James Van Der Beek & Eric Dane in Memoriam Segment

Many viewers were seen slamming the Oscars for not featuring some big names of the industry who passed away this year.

Despite the show featuring an 'In Memorium' segment, many were appalled that big names such as James Van Der Beek, Eric Dane, and others were not featured. Instead, the whole segment was dedicated to Rob Reiner.

A Gray's Anatomy fan account called the matter the worst snub of the year and demanded that the Academy provide a proper justification as to what went wrong and why.

Some asked why the producers of the show didn't make the most of the public platform that could have used a few extra minutes to raise awareness on matters like colorectal cancer and ALS diagnosis, which were the cause of death for James and Eric.

But some fans did come in defense of the Academy, reminding them how both Dane and Van Der Beek were huge names in the television world and not movies.

Other notable omissions included Catherine O'Hara, Malcolm Jamal Warner, and George Wendt.
