The Pentagon has confirmed the identities of all six service members who were killed when a US KC-135 refueling plane crashed in western Iraq on Thursday.
Three of the Air Force airmen were reportedly assigned to the 6th Air Refueling Wing. They included Maj John Klinner, Captain Ariana Savino, and Tech Sergeant Ashley Pruitt.
The other three airmen were said to be assigned to the 121st Air Refueling Wing, and they included Captain Seth Koval, Captain Curtis Angst, and Tech Sergeant Tyler Simmons. The crash that involved another tanker was still under investigation.
The plane was labeled lost while it was flying over friendly airspace in western Iraq on March 12 during Operation Epic Fury, as per the US Central Command.
The aircraft went down at about 2 pm ET on Thursday when two planes were reported as being involved in an 'incident' as shared by the brief statement. This confirmed how one of the planes went down in western Iraq and the second ended up landing safely.
