Newborn baby orphaned moments after being born when National Guardsman dad, 19, shot wife, 24, then himself

Tragic reports are speaking about a newborn baby being orphaned by his own father shortly after his birth.

According to reports from local media outlets, an Alabama National Guardsman fatally shot his wife shortly after she gave birth to their first child before turning the gun on himself.

The suspect was identified as Kynath Terry Jr., who was just 19. He opened fire on his 24-year-old wife named Precious Johnson, while she was still admitted at Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital in Homewood, which is a suburb of Birmingham.

Johnson had just given birth, and she was hit with several bullets. It's not clear if their newborn was in the room at the time of this incident.

Officers were seen responding to reports of shots being fired at the hospital on Sunday at 9:25 pm. When they arrived, they found Terry and Johnson dead with no other parties injured.

Investigators claim that there are early signs that the tragedy was an apparent murder suicide and is domestic in nature. The suspect's mother shared how the couple was having some marital issues, but she had no idea that her son was capable of this terrorism.
