A deadly parking-lot crash has left one person dead and four others injured after a 91-year-old driver apparently lost control of her vehicle in Los Angeles.
The crash happened Thursday, Sept. 3, near West 3rd Street and Fairfax Avenue, where emergency crews responded shortly after 1:20 p.m.
According to witnesses cited by local media, the elderly driver appeared to lose control as she entered the parking lot. Her vehicle struck a parked car before crashing into a parking attendant stand.
A woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Four other people were injured, including the 91-year-old driver. Three people were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while another man suffered serious injuries and required hospitalization.
Authorities have not publicly released the identities of the victims.
The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene, while the Los Angeles Police Department launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. Officials have indicated that the collision appears to have been accidental, although the investigation remains ongoing.
