Three teenage boys were killed and four other people injured after a violent two-vehicle crash on the Belt Parkway in Brooklyn late Tuesday night, police say. The collision happened around 11:35 p.m. near 65th Street in the Bay Ridge section, when a Cadillac Escalade carrying five teenagers collided with a Honda HR-V occupied by two women, both traveling eastbound at the time.
According to investigators, the Cadillac was allegedly moving at high speed as the driver attempted to pass a slower-moving vehicle in the center lane. When he swerved into the right lane and found himself behind another slow-moving car, he reportedly slammed on the brakes, leading to the deadly collision.
Three teenage boys inside the Cadillac, ages 16, 17, and 18, were pronounced dead. They have since been identified as Huzayfah Algaheim, 18, Konstantin Gerantidi, 17, and Rehman Abdul, 16. Two other teens in the SUV, ages 16 and 18, were rushed to Maimonides Medical Center and are listed in stable condition.
The two women in the Honda, ages 43 and 47, were taken to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn and are also expected to survive.
Video from the scene showed the Cadillac's front end almost completely caved in from the force of the impact. Police have not yet determined which of the teens was driving, and toxicology testing is expected to be conducted on the deceased driver as standard procedure.
The crash remains under active investigation, with no arrests made as of Wednesday morning.
