A British family of six says relocating from the UK to Poland has transformed their lifestyle, offering them more space, lower everyday expenses, and a better overall quality of life.
Earlier this year, Brittany Balinski, 35, her Polish husband, and their four children moved from North Warwickshire to Gdańsk after deciding it was time for a fresh start. The family sold their three-bedroom semi-detached home and settled into a spacious six-bedroom rental overlooking a forest.
Although their monthly rent is higher than the mortgage they paid in the UK, Brittany says the benefits have far outweighed the extra cost. Their utility bills are lower, grocery expenses have dropped significantly, and family meals at restaurants are far more affordable. She shared that dining out has become a regular treat, with some meals for the entire family costing as little as £12.60.
The move was motivated not only by financial considerations but also by a desire for a healthier and more peaceful lifestyle. Brittany explained that her husband’s demanding night-shift work had affected his well-being, prompting the family to reconsider where they wanted to build their future.
Since arriving in Poland, Brittany has started learning the language, while the children have settled into their new school. She says the quiet surroundings, nearby forests, and easy access to the beach have made everyday life feel more relaxed.
Although the family has not decided whether they will remain in Poland permanently, Brittany believes they made the right choice and says the move has brought greater comfort, stability, and happiness for the entire family.
