DDP’s New Super Pass Turns Dongdaemun Into a Curated Travel Course

Visitors to Seoul’s famous Dongdaemun district can now explore the area in a completely new way, thanks to the redesigned DDP × Dongdaemun Super Pass, a local curation platform connecting shopping, dining, cultural experiences and hidden attractions into themed travel routes. Led by Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP), the updated program transforms what was once mainly a discount-coupon service into a guided exploration experience covering the wider Dongdaemun neighborhood.

The Super Pass now introduces several curated routes designed around different visitor interests. One route focuses on vintage fashion exploration through flea markets and second-hand shops, while another highlights custom styling experiences where visitors can create personalized fashion items. A heritage-focused route introduces the historical identity of Dongdaemun, allowing travelers to experience the district beyond its reputation as a late-night shopping destination. There is also a “curator’s pick” route featuring lesser-known local spots selected by area experts.

Dongdaemun has long been recognized as one of Seoul’s most dynamic commercial zones, combining wholesale fashion markets, modern design culture and historic landmarks such as Heunginjimun Gate. The new Super Pass platform reflects growing interest in transforming traditional shopping districts into experience-based destinations where visitors can explore neighborhoods through themed routes rather than individual stops.

In addition to the curated courses, participants can join a small promotional event connected to the program. Visitors who leave Google reviews at two or more designated partner locations are eligible to receive official Super Pass merchandise, encouraging travelers to interact directly with local businesses while discovering the district.

By shifting from simple discounts to curated neighborhood journeys, the upgraded DDP × Dongdaemun Super Pass highlights a broader trend in Seoul’s tourism strategy making local districts easier to explore through storytelling-based travel routes. For first-time visitors and returning travelers alike, the program offers a fresh way to experience one of the city’s most iconic fashion and culture hubs.
