‘Climax’ Drives Momentum as ENA Strengthens Its Position in the K-Drama Industry

South Korea’s entertainment channel ENA is drawing increasing attention with its latest prime-time thriller Climax, which has quickly become a key factor behind the network’s growing reputation in the K-drama industry. According to reporting published by The Korea Times on March 30, 2026, the series topped cultural buzz rankings within just four episodes of release.

Data tracked by GoodData Corporation’s FUNdex platform showed that Climax reached the No. 1 position across both television and TV-OTT drama categories. The same report also stated that the drama ranked No. 1 on Disney+ in South Korea for eight consecutive days and led the Korean-series category on Watcha Pedia, a local streaming review platform. Broadcast ratings for the show have also continued to rise during its run.

Industry observers attribute part of ENA’s recent success to its decision to move away from traditional drama formulas. While weekend television has often relied on family-centered storytelling and prime-time programming has frequently followed predictable romance or revenge narratives, ENA has instead focused on complex character motivations and interpersonal conflicts. According to The Korea Times, this storytelling strategy has helped the network maintain strong viewer engagement.

The approach builds on the reputation established earlier by the legal drama Honor, which centered on a detailed female-driven narrative. It also follows the network’s most widely recognized production, Extraordinary Attorney Woo, which gained international attention for portraying a protagonist with autism spectrum disorder in a central role.

Beyond individual titles, ENA has also shifted its audience strategy toward viewers aged 20 to 49. According to the same report, this demographic focus resulted in a 27 percent year-on-year increase in viewership within this core group — the highest growth recorded among South Korea’s top 10 television channels. The network entered the country’s Top 7 channel rankings last September and has remained in that tier for seven consecutive months.

By combining character-driven storytelling with targeted audience engagement and social-media-friendly promotion strategies, ENA is strengthening its presence across both broadcast television and streaming platforms, with Climax playing a central role in this ongoing momentum.
