Red Velvet's Irene teases first full-length solo album 'Biggest Fan,' out March 30

Irene is ready for her first full solo album, and she is telling fans exactly what it is about from the start.

Red Velvet's leader announced that "Biggest Fan," her debut full-length solo LP, will release on March 30 at 6 p.m. The album carries 10 tracks, with the title track sharing the same name. It arrives about 16 months after her solo debut EP "Like A Flower," released in November 2024, which marked her first individual project after years as the face of one of SM Entertainment's most successful girl groups.

The title track is a pop dance song built on a bass groove, combining a narration-style rap delivery with what SM describes as an addictive chant line. The concept behind the song is deliberately personal. Irene uses it to share something she says she has come to understand over time that the relationship between an artist and their fans is mutual. The message, as the label puts it, is that fans can proudly call themselves her supporters, while she in turn becomes their biggest fan.

The first teaser visuals, released Monday on Red Velvet's official social media, showed Irene as the face of a fictional advertisement for a switch that promises to make anyone perfect with a single press. It is a tongue-in-cheek concept that fits her public image — polished, precise and a little deadpan about it.

For Red Velvet fans, Irene's solo chapter has been a long time coming. She debuted with the group in 2014 and spent a decade as its leader and one of its most recognizable faces. Her first solo EP in 2024 was well received, and "Biggest Fan" extends that solo career into full album territory for the first time.

The timing places her comeback the same week BTS releases "Arirang" and holds their Gwanghwamun concert. It is a crowded week for Korean music, but Irene has never had trouble drawing attention in a busy room.
