A new event honoring former Vice President Kamala Harris is taking center stage, and people were quick to express mixed reactions on this matter.
One went as far as to ridicule the event as a whole, after city officials declared a Kamala Harris Day and presented her with the key to the city

The event celebration took place on January 14, 2026, and is said to be part of the former VP's ongoing book tour for her memoir, titled 107 Days. This was intended to recognize her trailblazing career as the first female, first Black, and first South Asian vice president of the USA.
The event was reportedly hosted at Thalia Mara Hall and attended by local leaders, including the city's mayor. The latter is believed to have praised Harris's influence and referred to the day as a very momentous occasion.

Despite the celebratory tone from local officials and supporters, who felt that the honor was justified, many people voiced their critical opinions on the matter.
They were seen mocking the notion and also questioning these accomplishments while dismissing the celebrations as something premature or unwarranted.
