President Trump has raised eyebrows recently after he chose to grant clemency to James Philip Womack, who is the son of Republican Congressman Steve Womack of Arkansas.
Trump chose to commute the remaining of his eight-year-long federal prison sentence as he was serving for distributing drugs like methamphetamine.
The order was rolled out in the middle of January 2026, which meant James would be released from jail early but still needed to complete a period of supervised release and other conditions linked to his case.
James was convicted in May of 2024 after he pleaded guilty to distributing more than five grams of the drug, as well as another charge linked to possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.
His legal issues have spanned across so many years and entailed several prior arrests that included the likes of previous drug and firearm charges.
Before this federal sentence, he served time in state prison on different felony counts and it was rolled out early before he was arrested again on this similar federal case.
