The live-action God of War series by Amazon Prime Video and Sony Pictures Television has faced a major setback.
This is right after the lead actor was recast following a serious on-set injury.
Ryan Hurst, famous for his roles in Sons of Anarchy and for voicing Thor in the God of War: Ragnarok video game, was cast as the protagonist, Kratos. This is four months after filming in Vancouver.
The 50-year-old star reportedly tore his bicep while he was performing a major stunt scene. This injury required major surgery and carried an estimated four to six months recovery period.
Since the strict production schedule couldn't accommodate a lengthy hiatus, the studios chose to recast the role. Only four episodes were completed before the accident, most of which will now be re-shot with a new lead star. But the matter did spark a heated debate online, with many calling the recast heartless and arguing that the studio should have waited for the star to recover, given that he underwent a major physical transformation for this role.
