An elderly couple has left a heartbreaking message for their daughter before escaping their care home.
The pair included Colin, who is 89, and Claudette Geraghty, who is 83. They're an elderly couple from Australia who have been married for 65 years, and both suffer from dementia.
Just four days after moving into Melbourne's Retirement Village, the pair left the facility and drove away in their Mazda 2 because they longed to be back home together. Before vanishing, Colin left a heartbreaking text message for their worried daughter, Linda McKelvie, in writing.
This is where they mentioned: "Don't worry, and thank you for your help. I will make sure I look after her!" Following a major 32-hour-long search, the cops were able to locate the duo safe and sound and well near Maryborough, which is 104 miles northwest of Melbourne.
During that brief journey, they had even stopped at a shopping center to purchase their daily medication. The incident highlights a bigger trend regarding eldercare preferences and how they don't wish to be abandoned in a care home.
