Bride Who Survived Honeymoon Nightmare in Japan Speaks Out for the First Time: ‘Feels Like I Came Back From the Dead’

A registered nurse from Texas has spoken out for the first time after surviving a sudden and very serious life-threatening condition during her honeymoon.

Just a day after arriving in Tokyo with her partner, Danh says she fell into a medical coma.

She was diagnosed with acute liver failure, hepatic encephalopathy, and very dangerously high levels of ammonia inside her system. Due to medical facilities in Japan not being able to perform liver transplants for non-citizens, her family scrambled to secure an emergency medical evacuation flight.

Thanks to global supporters who helped in covering her expenses worth thousands of dollars, she was able to be flown back safely to Texas. But neurologists did warn that she suffered from serious and irreversible brain damage. This meant there was a high chance that she could never wake up.

But battling all odds, she did, and couldn't be more grateful to be given a second chance at life. "My brain swelling went down, my liver started to heal, and it was a miracle. It was like I came back from the dead," she shared.
