A tragic incident involving a plane crash in the Bahamas has left all 10 people on board dead.
The tragedy took place on the day of the country's 53rd independence anniversary, turning a moment of celebration and happiness into one of great sadness and mourning.
The plane involved in the crash was said to be a 402 twin-engine aircraft that was piloted by a local carrier called Flamingo Air. The plane ended up departing Lynden Pindling International Airport in Nassau and was said to be on its way to San Andros Airport, where it faced major difficulties and crashed into a wooded area in North Andros.
The victims included nine passengers and one pilot. While one of the 24-year-old male passengers first survived this impact with serious burns, he tragically succumbed to his injuries while getting medical care.
The plane's manifest and social media tributes confirmed that five core members of the famous Bahamian musical group Da Pond Band were all on board the doomed flight, including famous local island performer DJ Fresh. Investigators are now probing the cause of the crash.
