Rescuers on Saturday recovered the remains of an Indonesian woman who was caught in the volcanic eruption at Mount Dukono on Indonesia's remote island of Halmahera a day before, as search operations carried on to find the missing remains of two others from Singapore.
The slain hikers were among 20 who set out to ascend the 1355-meter volcano in defiance of safety restrictions and became stranded when Dukono erupted early Friday.
This caused it to spew thick ash columns that rose about 10km into the air. The woman was located on Saturday afternoon, about 50 meters.
The location of the two Singaporean hikers was also found, holding each other tightly, amid strong volcanic activity. The tragic news was relayed to their loved ones.
