Tragic reports have confirmed the death of a six-year-old boy who was crushed by a forklift that was driven by his father in what many described as a horrifying incident.
Emergency services were seen racing to the scene within minutes of receiving the frantic calls from Gabriele De March at about 6:30 pm on Friday. The man mentioned how his son Lucas De March had been hit by the forklift, but tragically, nothing could be done to save the youngster.
The incident unfolded on the premises of Meccanica De March, which is a mechanical engineering firm located in an industrial area in Sedico, Italy.
It was soon reported how the young boy would often spend time at the business with his dad at the end of the day, and as per employees, Gabriele would sometimes take him for short rides on the forklift in the firm's yard.
Investigators are now examining whether Lucas might have suddenly lost his balance and fallen in front of the moving vehicle.
The forklift was seized and would now be inspected to figure out if it meets the right safety regulations.
