A Turkish Airlines flight was met with a major incident today where the packed passenger plane caught on fire, sparking a massive evacuation of 288 passengers on board, with reports of the runway being shutdown was well.
The Airbus 330 landed at Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport from Istanbul with fire and smoke on the right landing gear. Emergency crew responded and controlled the blaze, and passengers were safely evacuated from the aircraft as per airport officials.
No injuries were reported, but the airport had to shut down for several hours. Several planes bound for Kathmandu were put on hold while officials investigated and tried to clear the only runway available at the airport.
